The S21 generation is built on Bitmain's 5 nm-class chips and reaches 17.5 J/TH on air cooling – a value the S19 series only touched with water-cooled Hydro variants. The base S21 delivers 151 TH/s from 2650W, which makes it the cheapest way into this efficiency class at €1,379, or about €9.13 per terahash. The S21+ pushes 216 TH/s through the same form factor at 3564W and 16.5 J/TH; at €2,149 it costs about €9.95 per terahash, so you pay slightly more per TH for more hashrate per slot and per power feed.
In practice the jump from 29.5 J/TH (S19j Pro) to 17.5 J/TH means roughly two thirds more hashrate for the same electricity bill. That is the number that decides whether a setup still works at 20–25 ct/kWh, and it is why we point buyers with household or commercial tariffs to the S21 rather than to cheap used hardware. Power connection and cooling for the S21
With 2650W of continuous load the S21 needs its own adequately fused circuit; the S21+ at 3564W even more so, and from two units a 400 V feed and a qualified electrician are usually required. Air-cooled S21 units are loud – Bitmain quotes around 75 dB – and belong in a basement, garage, workshop. Plan intake and exhaust air from the start: recirculated hot air costs hashrate and lifespan.
